Travelling of minors

As of 26 June 2012,all Italian minors must possess their own identity document for travelling in Europe and abroad: this may be an individual passport or an ID card valid for expatriation if recognised by the countries travelled through.

Therefore it is no longer sufficient for the minor to be registered on the parent's passport which is only valid for said parent until the natural expiry date.

Unaccompanied minors

Minors who travelunaccompanied are subject to restrictions and regulations established by the individual airline companies. Please consult the official website of the relative airline to obtain all details.

Unaccompanied minors under the age of 14

As of 04/06/2014,new regulation shave been established for minors under the age of 14 who travel unaccompanied.

In these cases, the parent or legal guardian of the minor must sign the Accompaniment Declaration that will be filed in the records of the Police Headquarters.

This new procedure requires the issuance of a printed certificate or the recording of the fact directly on the minor's passport. For further information please consult the website of the State Police Force.

In any case, before purchasing the ticket it will be necessary to check that the relative airline company accepts unaccompanied minors under the age of 14.
